Pair of Top 10 finishes to open Southern Nationals

Chris Ferguson invaded Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Friday evening to kick off the Schaeffer’s Southern Nationals slate. Drawing 31 cars, Ferguson timed in fastest in his group before picking up an 8-lap heat race victory. The following night at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) for another $10,053-to-win A-Main, Chris laid down the sixth fastest time in his group before placing fifth in his heat race. Rolling off 10th for the main event, Ferguson jumped up two spots in the 53-lapper to score an eighth place finish.
